Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn) and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation have taken another step toward deepening their industrial collaboration. Specifically, the two companies have signed an agreement to explore the joint operation of automotive equipment businesses.
Accordingly, the agreement outlines discussions that include the potential transfer of 50 percent of shares in Mitsubishi Electric Mobility Corporation to Foxconn, subject to regulatory requirements and mutual agreement on commercial terms.
The memorandum of understanding does not yet guarantee a finalized transaction but both Foxconn and Mitsubishi Electric confirmed that discussions are planned to proceed promptly. The proposed cooperation reflects a shared intent to explore structural collaboration in automotive equipment, combining Mitsubishi Electric’s long-standing expertise in automotive systems with Foxconn’s scale as the world’s largest electronics manufacturing services provider.
This latest agreement builds on a series of prior collaborations between Foxconn and Mitsubishi Group companies that span multiple technology domains.

In November 2025, Foxconn and Mitsubishi Electric signed an agreement to collaborate on the global supply of energy‑efficient and highly reliable AI data center solutions. That cooperation focused on combining know‑how and global networks to supply competitive AI data center systems, with an emphasis on efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Beyond data infrastructure, the two companies have been forging talks of cooperation on mobility. In May 2025, Foxconn subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies announced an MOU with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation to develop and supply an electric vehicle model as an OEM product.
Under that agreement, Foxtron was to provide design and manufacturing management services, with the model expected to enter the Australia and New Zealand markets in the second half of 2026.
Collaboration has also extended into commercial and public transportation. In August 2025, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation and Foxconn signed a memorandum of understanding to explore joint development of zero‑emission buses.
The initiative involved cooperation through their respective subsidiaries on development, production, supply chain management, and sales of ZEV buses, starting with Foxtron‑developed models.
That partnership later advanced with plans to create a new bus OEM in Japan, combining Mitsubishi Fuso’s bus manufacturing heritage with Foxconn’s zero‑emission vehicle technology and global partnership network.
Against this backdrop, the newly announced discussions around automotive equipment reflect a logical extension of an already broad collaboration framework.
