Yaskawa Europe, the European subsidiary of the Japanese technology group Yaskawa Electric Corp., recently held a groundbreaking ceremony at Kočevje in southern Slovenia. Also, it marked the start of construction for a new European Robotics Distribution Centre and a new assembly hall for robot welding systems.
Mainly, the new distribution center will create a single point for the receipt and fulfillment of robot orders across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
Particularly, as second investment, Yaskawa will create a new assembly hall for the construction of large robotic welding systems. Meanwhile, group company Yaskawa Ristro will move its operations to Kočevje from its current base at Ribnica, 15km to the north-west.
European Robot Factory
Kočevje, 60km south-east of Ljubljana, is the site of Yaskawa’s first European robot factory, which started production in 2018. Yaskawa officially opened the first European robotics development center at Kočevje, Slovenia in April 2019. Also, the company invested about 25 million euros for the facility. Mainly, this plant supplements the existing production facilities in Japan and China. Also, it aimed to fulfill about 80% of the European demand for MOTOMAN robots.
Generally, Yaskawa manufactures MOTOMAN robots and welding fixtures and system components at Ribnica and other locations in Slovenia.
