Hirose Electric Boosts FH75 Series with New Connector

Hirose Electric Co., Ltd. has announced a new variation to the existing FH75 Series automotive FPC/FFC connector. The new product, FH75M Series, features 0.4mm pitch and also carries the two-point contact structure and 125°C heat-resistant feature of the FH75 Series.

New connector aims to enhance space saving and functionality of automotive applications

In recent years, the spread of automated driving has increased the importance of the interior space of automotives. Also, displays for infotainment have become larger with higher definition. Consequently, connectors that are compact and with high pin count that can support more signals are required to support these industry trends.

Accordingly, Hirose developed and released the FH75 Series 0.5mm pitch, 125°C heat resistant automotive FPC/FFC connector in 2020. Since then, various customers have adopted the FH75 Series mainly for automotive displays.

This time, Hirose is expanding the FH75 Series product lineup with the release of a new, 0.4mm pitch variation, the FH75M Series. Particularly, FH75M maintains the features of the FH75 Series, such as the 125°C heat resistance and two-point contact design for high contact reliability. Moreover, its contact pitch was reduced by 0.1mm for even greater space reduction. Furthermore, the FH75M’s pin count is available in 100pos., with plans to expand to 120pos. This is significantly more than the pin count variations of up to 80pos. for the FH75 Series.

Main Features of FH75M Series FPC/FFC Connector

(1) Compact design with 0.4mm pitch and a high pin count (80, 100, 120 pos.)

(2) Independent two-point spring contact design reduces contact failure due to dust intrusion.

(3) 125ºC heat resistance to satisfy severe automotive requirements

Future Development Path

The newly developed FH75M Series with 100pos. was released in April 2024. The company plans to develop below pin count variations (80 pos. and 120 pos.) to meet the diversifying needs of internal automotive interconnection.

The reliable design satisfies in-vehicle quality requirements. Also, it suits industrial equipment exposed to harsh environments.
