MinebeaMisumi to Boost Europe Grit With New Facility

MinebeaMitsumi Inc. has established a new development base “MinebeaMitsumi Development Center Košice (MDCK)” in Košice Region, Slovak Republic. Accordingly, the new facility will develop electronic equipment products for the automotive market. Moreover, it will also cater to robot products for the industrial equipment market.

The new facility will also conduct electronic engineering research and development.

In 1990, the MinebeaMitsumi Group established an R&D facility for spindle motors for HDDs. Thus, this marked the beginning of an organization of the current MinebeaMitsumi Technology Center Europe GmbH (MTCE).

Subsequently, the Group established the Tokyo Research and Development Center (TRDC) in 2013 and the China Technical Center in 2018. In addition, it also built Osaka Research and Development Center (ORDC), and the Karuizawa Headquarters Technology Center in 2022.

At the same time, the company promoted MinebeaMitsumi’s “INTEGRATION”* activities, which created synergies by combining the company’s diverse core technologies.

Supports Automotive, Industrial Equipment Markets

The company aims to achieve sales of ¥2.5 trillion and operating income of ¥250 billion by the fiscal year ending March 2029. For that reason, the company laid down growth strategy centered on three points. These are organic or self-sustaining growth, M&A, and the development of products and supply of parts that solve social issues.

In addition to the MinebeaMitsumi Group’s conventional product development, the company is also actively working on the development of edge devices that will solve social issues. Moreover, to support new products and high value-added products for the next generation.

MinebeaMitsumi Development Center Košice has established as a base for the development of electronic products for automotive use. Specifically, those that are essential for the electrification of automobiles. At the same time, it will also manufacture products for the industrial equipment market to contribute to automation and labor savings.

Fusion With Various R&D Centers

MinebeaMitsumi Group currently has two production plants Košice Region in Slovak Republic. These are Minebea Slovakia and Minebea Access Solutions Slovakia. Here, the company manufactures mainly high-precision motors for automotive applications and automotive parts.
This development center not only works closely with the production plants mentioned above and MinebeaMitsumi Technology Center Europe GmbH in neighboring Germany, but also collaborates with other R&D bases around the world. Particularly, with the Tokyo R&D Center, to develop and accelerate new technological development and the integration of own technologies.
