USI to Soar Data Center Grit, to Grow Vietnam Line

Chinese electronic design and manufacturing company Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (USI) is ramping up its optical transceivers business to meet strong demand in the North American market. For that reason, the company is planning to expand its Vietnam operations with the addition of a new facility Hai Phong.

The company said the second facility is part of its plans to further expand its investment in Vietnam. In fact, USI has already signed an agreement with Sai Gon–Hai Phong Industrial Park Corporation (SHP) at Trang Due Industrial Park in Hai Phong to purchase a land.

In ramping up its Hai Phong facility, USI noted that global investments in computing infrastructure is accelerating. This is because of technology upgrades and service innovation across the artificial intelligence industry and its supply chain.

Increased Production Capacity

Since early 2025, the company has actively expanded its data center business, focusing on server boards, including AI accelerator cards and server motherboards. The move also covers optical communications, such as optical engines and optical transceivers, and AI server power solutions.

With the planned second facility, USI aims to boost its monthly capacity of 100,000 units of 800G/1.6T silicon photonic based optical transceivers. The new facility will also have a fully integrated production line covering optical engines, transceivers assembly, and final testing. USI said it will follow the trend of market demand and expand manufacturing capacity to satisfy customer needs.

USI’s Hai Phong facility in Vietnam, which began operations in 2021, spans 50,000 square meters and has generated more than US$800 million in revenue in 2025 from smartwatch SiP modules and industrial products.

Growing Industrial Park

Trang Due Industrial Park, which houses USI’s Hai Phong facility, offers established transport links that support logistics and workforce mobility. Phase III of the park is positioned as a high-technology manufacturing cluster, with access to seaports, highways and international airports. The site is supported by developed infrastructure, a deep labor pool and an integrated supply-chain ecosystem, as well as auxiliary services including employee housing, banking facilities and fuel stations.

Developed by SHP, Trang Due Industrial Park has a total area of over 1,000 hectares. The Phases I and II covers 401 hectares and have been fully leased already with over 100 projects and a total investment of US$11 billion. Meanwhile, Phase III, is a 652.73-hectare land positioned as a high-technology cluster, is accelerating infrastructure development and will be available for use in 2026.
