Marvell Technology has announced plans to invest US$250 million in India over the next three years, reinforcing its commitment to the country’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and expanding its research and development capabilities.
The investment will be directed toward technology development, workforce expansion and infrastructure enhancement across the company’s operations. The announcement coincides with Marvell’s celebration of 20 years of engineering innovation in India, underscoring the strategic role the country plays within the company’s global operations.
As part of the expansion strategy, Marvell plans to double its workforce over the next three years. The company is also unveiling a new wing at its Bangalore facility and increasing its presence in Hyderabad, moves designed to strengthen its global innovation network and accelerate the development of advanced semiconductor technologies for artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data infrastructure applications.
“India has become a strategic hub of engineering excellence for Marvell, playing a critical role in advancing the infrastructure technologies that power the world’s leading hyperscalers and cloud providers,” said Navin Bishnoi, Vice President and India Country Manager at Marvell.
India Emerges as a Key R&D Center
Since establishing operations in Bangalore in 2006, Marvell has transformed India into its second-largest research and development organization worldwide. Engineering teams across Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad contribute to a wide range of advanced technology programs, including process technologies at 2nm and beyond, high-speed analog intellectual property, subsystem design, software and firmware development, and end-to-end silicon engineering.
The company said its India-based teams continue to play an important role across multiple technology platforms. Employees have secured numerous patents and are actively leveraging advanced AI tools to enhance engineering productivity and support innovation.
Strengthening the Semiconductor Ecosystem
In addition to advancing technology development, Marvell is investing in the broader growth of India’s semiconductor industry through partnerships with universities, startups, industry associations and government organizations.
The company collaborates with academic institutions on internships, faculty development programs, research projects and curriculum initiatives aimed at preparing students for careers in advanced technology sectors. It also engages with emerging startups through mentoring and strategic collaborations aligned with its technology priorities.
“We remain committed to expanding R&D investments, strengthening the country’s semiconductor ecosystem and developing the next generation of technology talent,” Bishnoi said.
Scholarship Program Supports Future Innovators
Marvell also highlighted its Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (MSTEM) initiative, launched earlier this year to support future AI and semiconductor professionals.
The program provides financial assistance, industry exposure and practical learning opportunities for students pursuing degrees in electronics, electrical engineering and computer science. More than 7,000 students from leading universities across India applied for the scholarship, with 100 recipients selected.
By combining academic support with real-world industry engagement, the program aims to strengthen India’s technology talent pipeline and help prepare future engineers for careers in semiconductor and AI innovation.
