Festo targets to expand its North and South American markets with the construction of a new plant in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, in Mexico. Accordingly, Festo will invest US$100 million in the plant. It will highlight the strategic focus “Local for Local”, where the objective is to open up the great growth potential of these markets.
Festo has laid the first stone of its new plant. It will have three construction phases, which will gradually generate 1,500 new jobs. The new plant will be ready in 2025.
From this plant in Salinas Victoria, automation solutions will be offered to sectors, such as automotive, mining, pharmaceuticals and electronics.
Festo has not produced in Mexico so far. However, the country occupies a key position as a production location for supplying the North American markets. Moreover, it is becoming increasingly important for the South American market.
Specifically, Monterrey is one of the most important industrial locations in Latin America. Also, it is considered one of the most attractive university cities in Mexico with international universities and well-trained professionals. Festo is well connected there with important customers and technical universities. It maintains a Festo Didactic training center and a sales office in this city.
The site is located in the renowned industrial park “Interpuerto Monterrey”. Other well-known international companies and customers have production sites there. The location is in the immediate vicinity of the airport as well as Festo Monterrey. Also, it is only 200km away from the U.S. border.
“The new plants in Mexico will provide an important basis for our future growth. It will further strengthen Festo´s global competitiveness and resilience in the supply chains,” according to the company.
