Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. (YME) and Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe (YMME) have recently inaugurated the new Drive Unit assembly line in France.

Accordingly, the new Drive Unit assembly line in Saint Quentin follows Yamaha Motor’s commitment to local European manufacturing. Thus, offering a competitive and sustainable option to serve its eBikes OEM customers in Europe.

Multi-Product Factory

The assembly line is a new addition to the already large portfolio of YMME. Besides, it continues its diversification into a multi-product factory and towards electric mobility. YMME – formerly known as MBK Industrie – has been manufacturingYamaha flagship models. Among them are the Ténéré 700, MT-125 and XMAX, assembling the new range of Yamaha eBikes and customizing Yamaha’s Powered Two-Wheelers and ATVs for European-specific needs already for many years.

The inauguration took place in the presence of Thomas Campeaux, Prefect of Aisne France; Xavier Bertrand, President of region Hauts-de-France; and Mrs. Fréderique Macarez, mayor of Saint Quentin France. In addition, Tjeerd Jegen, CEO of Accell Group also attended the event. Also present were Kenichi Muraki, Executive Officer and Executive General Manager of Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit at Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and other representatives from Yamaha headquarters in Japan and Yamaha Motor Europe.

This production line will produce Yamaha’s drive unit PWseries S2, designed for the high-volume Sport and Trail sectors.

Moreover, like every Yamaha drive unit, quality and reliability are assured.

Yamaha’s engineers have worked tirelessly to make the PWseries S2 one of the most powerful and lightest drive units in its class. Thus, producing 75Nm of instant torque and weighing only 2.85 Kg, its torque to weight ratio is among the best in class.
