JUKI Corporation has bagged the top prize of the 54^th Machine Design Award (IDEA) for its LX-8 high-speed flexible mounter. Specifically, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (MEITI) bestowed the award, which Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd. has been sponsoring.

JUKI released in August last year the LX-8 high-speed flexible mounter.

The Machine Design Award (IDEA) got its start in 1970 to promote and develop the design of Japanese industrial products. Thus, this year marks the 54th edition of the award, which is both historic and prestigious. Many of the award-winning products to date have been highly acclaimed as forefront products that presage the direction of design in their respective eras. Earlier, JUKI’s LX-8 bagged the top-prize award out of 32 entries from 29 companies.

Improves Productivity

The LX-8 is a high-speed flexible mounter that achieves the highest speed in its class with a two-head design and the high area productivity in a space saving footprint.　Amid the rise of new industry forces such as EVs and robots, JUKI received citation for its proactive efforts.
