Aerotech’s New Drives Simplify Complex Motion Systems

Precision motion control and automation company Aerotech Inc. has announced the launch of its new Automation1-HXA4 and Automation1-iHXA4 hexapod drives. These compact drives manage the hexapod like any other axis on Aerotech’s Automation1 motion controller network, simplifying system designs without sacrificing performance.

With their balance of high capability and value, the Automation1-HXA4 and Automation1-iHXA4 drives make high-performance hexapod control more accessible than ever.

“We designed the Automation1-HXA4 and Automation1-iHXA4 hexapod drives to enable effortless coordination across complex motion systems,” said Aerotech Product Manager Brian Fink. “We are making it easier for users in a variety of industries to get the best possible hexapod performance—at a very accessible price point.”

These economical, high-performance six-axis hexapod drives are precisely engineered to amplify the advantages of Aerotech’s second-generation hexapod family, including models like the HEX150-125HL. They seamlessly integrate with the Automation1 motion control platform, which includes development software, controls, motor drives, the fiber-optic HyperWire® communication bus and a full suite of automation tools. The Automation1-HXA4 includes a full motion controller and drive in one package.

Additional Features

  • Compact Design – These drives are designed to minimize panel space, enabling easy integration.
  • Reduced Complexity – With only two connectors per hexapod – plus ample built-in analog and digital I/O – these drives reduce complexity without sacrificing capability.
  • Enhanced Performance – Built-in control features like  Part-Speed Position-Synchronized Output (PSO) and Safe Torque Off (STO) provide enhanced performance, control and safety.
  • Effortless Integration – By treating the hexapod like any other axis, these drives coordinate seamlessly across complex motion systems
  • High Value – An exceptional balance of capability and cost makes high-performance hexapod control more accessible than ever.

These new hexapod drives are appropriate for a range of applications, including optics inspection, alignment and bonding; photonic device manipulation, alignment and packaging; and optical wafer probing. In addition, it also suits aerospace and satellite device testing; electro-optics testing and qualification; and synchrotron and beamline sample manipulation.
