Leading semiconductor test equipment supplier Advantest Corporation entered into an agreement to acquire Shin Puu Technology Co., Ltd.
Taiwan-based Shin Puu manufactures and assembles PCBs and key components used in electronics in Taiwan, a global hub of the electronics industry. It has 264 employees and occupies 16,913m2 total floor area of production space.
Meanwhile, in 2021, Advantest acquired U.S.-based R&D Altanova. The company is a leading supplier of consumable test interface boards, substrates, and interconnects for high-end applications. Specifically, Advantest will combine the high-performance, high-density PCB design technology of R&D Altanova with Shin Puu’s manufacturing capabilities. From this integration, the company will expand its manufacturing footprint for high-end test boards in the Asian region. Further, it will enhance Advantest’s ability to provide turnkey solutions to its customers.
“The acquisition of Shin Puu is part of our medium- to long-term growth strategy to expand our test and measurement solutions across the continuously evolving semiconductor value chain. Shin Puu’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities strongly complement R&D Altanova’s high-end test board design technology. We expect that this will accelerate the growth of our device interface business. In addition to expanding our manufacturing capabilities for high-end test boards, we believe this will enable us to strengthen our customer base in the Asian region, strengthen our recurring business, and help diversify and stabilize our revenue base,” commented Advantest President and Group CEO Yoshiaki Yoshida.
Following the acquisition, Shin Puu will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Advantest’s U.S. subsidiary. The closing of the transaction is tied to regulatory approvals.
