FDK CORPORATION has added the HR-AATEZ nickel-metal hydride (NI-MH) battery featuring an improved performance to its product lineup. It will start mass production and shipment beginning April 2024.
For over 33 years, FDK has been manufacturing and selling rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries for a variety of applications, including security, in-vehicle applications, medical, and household electric appliances. Mainly, the company’s nickel-metal hydride batteries are widely used as a main power source. Also, they are ideal as power backup for in-vehicle applications.

In response to the increasing diversity of in-vehicle applications, FDK began mass production and shipment of HR-AAUTEW NI-MH battery with improved discharge performance in low-temperature environments in July 2021. Successively, it manufactured the HR-AAUTEWM model with improved lifetime performance in June 2022.
Since then, the demand for batteries with a longer lifetime has continued to increase. Also, to meet these needs, FDK has thoroughly reviewed the materials used in existing nickel-metal hydride batteries. This led to the successful development of HR-AATEZ with increased battery capacity and improved lifetime performance. Accordingly, this optimized chemistry doubles the lifetime performance of existing high-durability model HR-AAUTEWM(1).
The longer life of the battery reduces the frequency of battery replacements, increasing convenience for customers. Upon HR-AATEZ’s release in April, the company will offer a full lineup of nickel-metal hydride batteries for in-vehicle applications meeting most operating conditions.
Generally, all FDK NI-MH batteries are made in FDK’s factory in Japan. It is IATF 16949 certified and complies with necessary environmental requirements such as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) and EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542).
