Tokyo Ohka Kogyo (TOK) has completed a new semiconductor photoresist manufacturing building at its Koriyama Plant in Fukushima Prefecture, strengthening its ability to supply advanced materials for a fast-growing global semiconductor market. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in November 2026.
The expansion is aimed at increasing supply capacity and enhancing product quality for semiconductor photoresists, including advanced extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and ArF materials used in leading-edge chip production. TOK described the new building as part of one of the world’s largest facilities dedicated to semiconductor photoresist manufacturing.

As chipmakers continue investing in advanced process technologies, demand for high-performance lithography materials is expected to remain strong. To address that trend, TOK launched construction of the new facility in July 2024 and completed the project on October 8, 2026.
Located at the Koriyama Plant, the manufacturing building spans 4,800 square meters and represents an investment of approximately ¥23 billion. The facility will be dedicated to semiconductor photoresist production, a critical segment within the semiconductor materials supply chain.
A key feature of the new site is its emphasis on automation and digitalization. TOK said the facility has been designed as a people-friendly smart factory that combines high levels of safety with improved production efficiency.
The company added that the automated manufacturing environment will support its goal of producing photoresists with world-class quality standards while improving operational performance.
The investment aligns with TOK’s “tok Medium-Term Plan 2027,” which focuses on strengthening production infrastructure and creating a more resilient supply chain. Looking ahead, the company said it will continue evaluating proactive investments to expand manufacturing capacity and reinforce research and development capabilities.
By increasing output of advanced semiconductor materials and modernizing manufacturing operations, TOK is positioning itself to support future growth in the global semiconductor industry while ensuring a stable supply of high-quality photoresists for customers worldwide.
