Murata Sensor Enables High-Precision Machine Control

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has introduced the SCH16T-K01, an inertial 6DoF XYZ-axis gyroscope, and XYZ-axis accelerometer. Particularly, it enables high-precision machine control and positioning applications.

The device is the first launched product version from Murata’s next-generation SCH16T 6DoF family. Accordingly, the company is planning to introduce further variants in the future.

Recently, Murata has updated its industry-proven 3D MEMS process. Thus, enhancing the SCH16T product family. The design of the sensor aims to meet the market need for better positioning solutions and delivers an unmatched level of performance. Moreover, it has the support of several added time synchronization features.

Suits Industrial, Engineering Applications

The SCH16T-K01 includes a sophisticated gyro with typical bias instability of 0.5dph and up to 0.3mdps/√Hz noise density. The accelerometer has a dynamic range of up to 26g, which provides resistance against saturation and vibration. Overall, the component exhibits excellent linearity and offset stability through the whole temperature range.

Murata also made the component’s output internally cross-axis compensated. Thus, eliminating the need for extensive calibration at the user’s end.

In addition, through the integration of these features, the SCH16T-K01 can deliver incredibly accurate measurements in machine control and guidance without needing field calibrations.

The SCH16T-K01 suits industrial applications and use cases such as construction and agricultural machines. In addition, the sensor can also meet the demands of material handling equipment and marine instrumentation.

The SCH16T sensor is the only single package 6DoF component with this level of performance and features. Moreover, it has excellent linearity and offset stability over full temperature and measurement range. Thus, allowing centimeter-level accuracy in machine dynamics and position sensing even in harsh environments.
