TOK to Expand Capacity With New High Tech Facility

TOKYO OHKA KOGYO CO., LTD. (TOK) has completed the construction of new plant in the Aso Kumamoto Site of the company’s Aso Plant in Kikuchi city, Kumamoto Prefecture. Specifically, it aims to improve the quality of high-purity chemicals and expand the company’s supply capacity.

The company has poured ¥13 billion to the new Aso Kumamoto Site.

Advanced Manufacturing Facility

Accordingly, the plant will employ state-of-the-art facilities to guarantee the quality of TOK’s product thoroughly. Its operations will commence in the first half of 2025.

The Company opened the Aso Plant in Kumamoto in 1984. Since then, it has been manufacturing high-purity chemicals. In 2022, the company acquired new land for commercial use in Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Specifically, to open the Aso Kumamoto Site in response to the recent expansion of semiconductor production in Kyushu area.

Going forward, we aim to improve the quality of high-purity chemicals, expand our supply capacity and enhance user support in the Western area in Japan, through the synergy between the Site and the Aso Plant.

Steps up Investments

In order to realize the long-term vision, “TOK Vision 2030”, TOK Group plans to make the largest-ever capital investments of more than ¥57 billion. Accordingly, the company will spread the investments over the three-year period covered by TOK Medium-Term Plan 2024 released in February 2022.

“We will continue to make aggressive capital investments and strengthen our global supply chain to respond to the medium- to long-term growth of the semiconductor market,” said the company.

The company group is accelerating strategic investments in line with its “TOK Vision 2030.” In Japan, it is currently constructing a new factory in Kikuchi city in Kumamoto. The company expects to finish the construction in the first half of 2024 and will start operating in the first half of next year.

In addition, a new building will be constructed at the Koriyama Plant (Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture) in order to increase the production capacity of semiconductor photoresists toward 2030. Moreover, the new photoresist manufacturing facility will be one of the largest in Japan. Thus, achieving the world’s highest quality and high production efficiency.
