mechatronic systemtechnik GmbH (mechatronic) has opened its new cutting-edge technology center in Fürnitz, Austria. Accordingly, mechatronic is a leading global supplier of automation equipment for critical wafer handling.

Mechatronic has infused investments of about EUR20 million in value. The new facility spans 6,500sq.m across three stories. Moreover, it includes a progressive clean room and laboratory. Specifically, this is where the planning, development, and production of the company’s advanced systems will take place.

Meet Customer Needs

Founded in 1998, mechatronic specializes in addressing the semiconductor industry’s needs for reliable, safe, and fully automated handling of non-standard substrates. Specifically, including stacked, thin, or warped wafers, as well as eWLP, MEMS, TAIKO, bumped, and film frames.

The company achieved an average annual growth rate of 20% over the last five years. Thus, this fresh investment is essential to meet burgeoning customer demand and accommodate future development. In response to the need for greater operational capacity, the management team made a strategic decision to relocate to Fürnitz from its Villach site.

Sustainable Operations

Environmental sustainability was a key priority in the design of the technology center. Particularly, the company employed innovative methods to heat and cool the entire building. This includes underfloor heating combined with heat recovery and concrete core activation.

Workspaces also come fitted with a lighting control system that mimics natural daylight. Thus, offering employees a conducive and productive work environment. Furthermore, the building features a solar photovoltaic (PV) system [with a capacity of 361 kWp] on its roof. This demonstrates mechatronic’s commitment to green technology and empowers the company to achieve its net zero carbon emissions goal.

Meanwhile, the official opening of the technology center marks a new chapter for mechatronic. Specifically, this further reinforces the company’s position as a global leader in semiconductor handling solutions.

mechatronic joined the Accuron family in 2017. Accordingly, the investment made by Accuron reflects a strong belief in the company’s potential, alongside shared values of innovation, quality, and excellence.

The Fürnitz site is around 35% larger than the current facility. Furthermore, it will accommodate approximately 130 employees, with plans for additional recruitment to support future growth.
