Murata Commences Construction of New Philippine Plant

Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc., a manufacturing subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., will begin the construction of a new production building in August 2023.

The construction of the new production building aims to develop the capacity to accommodate increased demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors over the medium and long term.

The 32,454sq.m building area will have total floor area of 77,981sq.m. Particularly, it will manufacture multilayer ceramic capacitors.

Most importantly, the new building will have approximately ¥11.2 billion total investments. The company expects to conclude the construction in September 2025.

Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. got its start in the Philippines in September 2011 with initial share capital of ¥17 billion. Recently, the Philippine facility is now employing 3,364 people.

Series of Expansion

Murata has recently started series of capacity expansion for multilayer ceramic capacitors. First, the company started of new building for Murata Electronics (Thailand), Ltd. in July 2021. The new facility opened last February.

Next, Izumo Murata Manufacturing Co., ltd. Iwami Plant in Japan also had capacity expansion and finished construction last April.

Meanwhile, the company also started in November 2022 capacity expansion in Wuxi Murata Electronics Co., Ltd. It expects to conclude construction in April 2024.

Murata Electronics designs, manufacture and sells ceramic-based passive electronic components & solutions. In addition, it covers communication modules and power supply modules. Murata remains committed to the development of advanced electronic materials and leading edge, multi-functional, high-density modules.
