Delta Debuts Compact Multi-Drive for Smart Manufacturing

Leveraging its advanced technology and solid experience in developing drives, Delta Electronics, Inc. introduces its new Compact Multi-Drive MX300 Series. Specifically, the new series highlights a multi-axis modular structure for a flexible configuration.

As industries are centering attention on smart manufacturing, global manufacturers are implementing automation products and solutions to establish smart factories. On the production line, drives are common devices that convert AC to DC through a rectifier. Also, they utilize an inverter to convert DC to AC for further motor control. Traditional production lines require numerous drives. However, with different device volumes, brands, and wiring methods, it’s hard to integrate components seamlessly and make good use of cabinet space.

In response to the changing market and customer demand, Delta has leveraged its advanced technology and solid experience in developing drives in introducing its new Compact Multi-Drive MX300 Series. The series features a multi-axis modular structure that modularizes traditional rectifiers and inverters for flexible configuration on the quantity and axis of the inverter module. Then, inverter modules are mounted on both sides of the rectifier module. The parallel mounting design offers optimal space, quick mounting, simple commissioning, and easy networking benefits, helping customers stay competitive and strong in the market.

Delta’s Compact Multi-Drive MX300 Series

Delta’s Compact Multi-Drive MX300 Series has the following six features and advantages:

Compact Size

Specifically, the rectifier and inverter modules are equal in height and depth, which is ideal for cabinet space utilization. Depending on customer needs, MX300 provides flexible choices between single, double, and triple-axis inverter modules. A single rectifier module can support up to six inverter modules and controls up to 15 axes. Compared to the traditional structure that requires 15 drive units, one set of MX300 can control 15 motors, saving space by up to 50%.

 Friendly Mounting

For its part, the transmission module connects a rectifier module and inverter modules. Single or dual-sided mounting optimizes space utilization. Also, MX300 features plug-in mounting that simply removes the specific module for maintenance, saving wiring by 40% and mounting time by 30%.

 Smooth Networking

Additionally, one cable connects multi-axis modules for cost efficiency in networking. The MX300 Series supports Modbus and CANopen communication protocols. For easy networking, the fieldbus can connect multiple drives. In addition, with a built-in USB Type-C port, MX300 connects to the Integrated Development & Engineering Software DIADesigner for oscilloscope and parameter setting, achieving fast commissioning for complex applications.

 Energy Saving

Facing major trends in enhancing energy efficiency and carbon reduction, MX300 also considers energy saving in its design. The single-drive structure requires an additional braking unit to dissipate regenerative energy as heat. Meanwhile, the MX300 inverter module is embedded with a built-in common DC bus to transform the regenerative energy into power. The high energy efficiency design not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also saves additional space and cost from the brake resistor.

 High Performance

Generally, MX300 delivers 200% high starting torque with low-speed control and provides outstanding machine stability. The series also features high overload capacity, with 150% for 60 seconds and 200% for 3 seconds. Additionally, the MX300 supports PM and IM motors with 2 independent motor parameter sets, achieving highly efficient and stable operation.

 High Reliability

While equipment or drives are operating, vibration interaction in different modules might result in internal damage. The MX300 fastens modules securely with joints to achieve robust vibration suppression. To prevent moisture, dust, or corrosive chemicals from affecting the performance of the drive, MX300 uses an enhanced PCB coating that extends the lifespan and durability of the drive when operating in harsh environments.

Accordingly, the unique features of the Delta Compact Multi-Drive MX300 Series meet user demands and industry applications, and are suitable for machines with low-power motors such as woodworking and food machinery. The series is also applicable to production lines such as conveyors and packaging machines.

Also, the MX300 greatly enhances panel space utilization and at the same time, saves a great amount of time and manpower cost in commissioning and maintenance. Delta’s innovative new drive, MX300, provides stable quality and outstanding performance, guiding industries far into the smart manufacturing future and towards a successful industrial transformation.
