Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. will open a new plant in Harohalli in the state of Karnataka, India. Accordingly, the company aims to meet the growing automobile production in that country with the reinforced production capacity.
The new plant is a branch plant of Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt. Ltd.1, and scheduled to begin production from 2026. Specifically, the company aims to produce safety systems such as airbags, steering wheels, and more in the new plant. Furthermore, the new facility will also produce vehicle interior and exterior products such as console boxes and others.
Toyoda Gosei believes demand for these products will continue to grow in the region. For that reason, it will establish a new plant to increase its production capacity. Moreover, the new plant aims to meet the growing demand from Japanese automakers, which are the company’s main customers.
The new plant will achieve more efficient manufacturing. Specifically, it will employ Toyoda Gosei’s original, simple/slim & sensible automation that combines collaborative robots and karakuri2 technology. Moreover, it will make sure the new plant will also use energy-efficient electric molding machines.
Consequently, the company will also increase production facilities for bumpers, instrument panels, and other interior and exterior products will in its existing Techno Park Plant. Thus, leading to an optimized production network in southern India.
India is a key market for Toyoda Gosei. Demand for airbags, one of the company’s main products, is growing amid rising traffic fatalities. Moreover, the automobile market has been expanding rapidly in the country. Sports utility vehicles (SUVs) are also becoming increasingly popular in recent years, for which automakers are enhancing their production capacity. The company will leverage its development and production network in the country to contribute to safer and more comfortable mobility in society.
