Brother Industries, Ltd. has announced the release of the SPEEDIO DG-1 Deburring Center, which specializes in deburring die-cast parts.
This new model will be demonstrated at the JIMTOF2024 (32nd Japan International Machine Tool Fair) in November 2024. It will also be exhibited at J-DEC2024 (Japan Die Casting Conference and Exhibition).
SPEEDIO DG-1 Deburring Center
Particularly, the new model is a dedicated machine specializing in deburring die-cast parts. While the conventional SPEEDIO is aimed at machining parts, the DG-1 deburring center is aimed at removing burrs from materials that occur in the manufacturing process of die-cast parts.
Mainly, deburring of die-cast parts is often done manually. Of late, it is difficult to secure workers due to labor shortages. In addition, it takes time to create a program and modify the processing path for deburring using a robot or numerical-controlled (NC) processing machine. Thus, there is a need for a dedicated processing machine for deburring that can easily start up the process in a short time. In the new model for release, Brother’s unique process start-up function realizes efficient deburring work.
Reduces Man-hours to Start up Processing
Primarily, the DG-1 deburring center is equipped with several functions that pursue ease of use. Brother’s unique functions, such as automatic generation of machining paths, path correction on the touch panel, and automatic program conversion, make it possible to easily launch the process in a short time without knowledge of NC programs.
In particular, Brother’s unique function is the automatic generation function of the machining path. This allows intuitive operation of the direction and speed of movement. Also, the machining path can be automatically generated simply by setting the representative point. In addition, the low-torque function, which reduces travel speed and force, reduces the risk of failure because the machine detects abnormal contact and stops even if a mistake occurs.
Moreover, correction of the automatically generated machining path is possible. To this end, users simply select the part to be corrected on the touch panel and enter the correction amount.
In robots and NC processing machines, it takes a lot of time to repeatedly reconfigure (re-instruct) and modify NC programs when creating a machining path. On the other hand, the DG-1 deburring center eliminates the need for these tasks, so it is possible to shorten the start-up time of processing by about 70% (According to Brother Industries).
Large Processing Area Ideal for Variable-mix, Variable-volume Production
Also, the DG-1 deburring center has a large machining area, so it can process medium-sized die-cast parts. In addition, there is a high degree of freedom in jig design, and it supports variable-mix, variable-volume production.
Mechanical Design Suitable for Deburring
The DG-1 deburring center is equipped with a spindle that is ideal for deburring. The 20,000 (min-1) spindle motor enables setting of appropriate machining conditions, and the spindle with rigidity suitable for deburring enables stable deburring without being affected by the size of burrs.
Spindle tapered hole: 7/24 taper No.15
Spindle maximum speed: 20,000 (min-1)
In addition, the pick-up system* Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) can hold up to six cutting tools, making it possible to select a deburring tool that matches the shape of the burr. In addition, by adopting a cover with an opening and closing method, chips generated during processing can be prevented from entering the tool room.
*The spindle attaches and detaches the tool, and the tool is replaced.
