Yaskawa's Latest Investments to Surge U.S. Presence

Yaskawa Electric Corporation announced plans to invest up to US$180 million over the next eight years to United States over the next eight years. Specifically, the plans include creating a new campus in Franklin in Wisconsin and to relocate the headquarters and production functions of its American office, Yaskawa America Inc., from Illinois to Wisconsin.

Purpose of New Campus

The United States continues to retain a strong industrial base in the manufacturing & services industries that have bolstered its economy. Particularly, in the automotive, medical, and food sectors. It is also expected that demand will continue to grow in a wide range of fields, including data center and other infrastructure investments, as well as in semiconductors and logistics in the country.

Also, in cutting-edge fields such as AI and robotics, the United States has overwhelmingly competitiveness in terms of human resources, funding, and speed, creating an ecosystem in which startups and universities work closely with companies to accelerate technological innovation.

For these reasons, the manufacturing industry has moved back to strengthening domestic production against the backdrop of inflation and soaring labor costs. Therefore, leading to a rapid increase in demand for equipment investment for automation and labor-saving at production sites.

To flexibly respond to these robust demands for equipment investment, Yaskawa decided to establish a new campus to further enhance its presence as a player with integrated business functionalities in technology, sales, production, and services based on the policy of in-demand production and sales. The company believes that strengthening trust-based relationships with local customers and partner companies, along with the creation of value through cooperation, will directly lead to the improvement of future competitiveness in the country.

Additionally, Yaskawa intends to build a production system that implements its solution concept, i³-Mechatronics, thereby accelerating productivity and quality improvement.

Going forward, Yaskawa will increase its proposal capabilities based on the i3-Mechatronics and strengthen its business functionalities in the U.S., and through these efforts, it will work to solidify customer trust and satisfaction while contributing to the growth and development of the U.S. economy.

Overview of Yaskawa America
