TDK to Boost Battery Business in New Linergy Deal

TDK Corporation has approved the acquisition of 100 percent of the shares of Linergy Power Sdn Bhd, a move that will make the Malaysian company a wholly owned subsidiary. The decision was taken at a board meeting held on May 19, 2026, with Amperex Technology (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.—a TDK subsidiary focused on rechargeable batteries—leading the transaction.

Under the agreement, Amperex Technology will acquire all ordinary shares of Linergy through a full transfer, completing the integration of the company into TDK’s corporate structure.

The acquisition supports TDK’s long-term vision, “TDK Transformation,” which outlines the company’s strategic direction over the next decade. Introduced in May 2024, the vision aims to enhance corporate value while accelerating contributions to societal transformation and sustainability.

The move is also aligned with TDK’s medium-term plan covering fiscal years March 2025 through March 2027, which guides the company’s operational priorities and growth initiatives.

Within its core Energy Solution Business, TDK has focused on developing high value-added battery products using advanced technologies. The company has built a diverse customer base and differentiated its position, particularly in the medium-capacity battery segment, by tailoring products to customer requirements.

Enhancing global supply capabilities

TDK expects the acquisition to improve its ability to respond to varied customer needs by enabling a more flexible global supply structure. This enhanced capability is intended to strengthen customer trust and support further expansion of its battery business.

The company views the integration of Linergy as a step toward accelerating growth while advancing its broader transformation agenda.
