
Hirose Electric Co., Ltd., a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision connectors, has announced the establishment of its first manufacturing facility in India. Operating under the newly formed subsidiary, HIROSE ELECTRIC CHENNAI PRIVATE LIMITED, the site will be located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The expansion is a strategic move to strengthen Hirose’s automotive business within the Indian market, which is currently experiencing significant economic growth. By establishing a local production base, the company aims to provide swift customer support and enhance its supply capacity for both the domestic Indian market and neighboring regions.

The project involves an initial investment of approximately ¥1 billion (about US$6.28 million). The facility will occupy a site area of 1,700sq.m and is specialized for the production of automotive connectors and related electronic components.

Hirose’s entry into India marks a critical step in localizing the production of high-precision components. These connectors are vital for modern electronic and automotive architectures, facilitating reliable power and data transmission in electric vehicles (EVs), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and other electronic modules.
“With the launch of the new factory, the Company will work to establish a strong business foundation in the Indian market by achieving both high quality and productivity,” the company stated in its official release.
This new facility brings Hirose’s global manufacturing network to nine sites, joining existing operations in Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The expansion underscores Hirose’s commitment to accelerating its global expansion and enhancing market responsiveness through a diversified production framework tailored to local needs.
