Micron Technology and Ford Motor Company have entered into a long-term Strategic Customer Agreement (SCA) aimed at strengthening the supply of memory and storage technologies for Ford’s next-generation vehicle programs. The agreement is designed to improve supply continuity and support the growing demand for advanced automotive electronics
The announcement marks another step in Micron’s expanding collaboration with major automotive manufacturers as the industry increases its focus on software-defined, connected and data-intensive vehicles. The semiconductor supplier recently signed a similar strategic agreement with General Motors and has also collaborated with BMW Group on the development and validation of automotive memory technologies.
Under the agreement, Micron will provide Ford with long-term access to memory and storage solutions required for future vehicle production programs. The company said it is increasing output of key automotive memory products and investing in capacity expansion to support long product lifecycles and ensure dependable supply for critical manufacturing operations.

The deal is backed by Micron’s broader efforts to expand and localize production for automotive customers, including advanced DRAM manufacturing at its facility in Manassas, Virginia. The investments are intended to strengthen supply resilience across the automotive ecosystem while supporting growing global demand for memory and storage technologies.
As vehicles become increasingly intelligent and reliant on data processing, memory and storage components are playing a larger role in enabling advanced vehicle functions. Micron said long-term collaboration and supply assurance are becoming increasingly important as automakers accelerate technology adoption across future vehicle platforms.
“Producing the high-volume vehicles of the future in the U.S. will require a resilient supply chain,” said Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford Motor Company. “We applaud Micron’s commitment to manufacturing in America, expanding its domestic production and investing in a skilled workforce.”
Sanjay Mehrotra, Chairman, President and CEO of Micron Technology, added: “We are proud to extend our collaboration with Ford to help ensure a reliable, long-term supply of memory and storage solutions.”
The Ford agreement follows Micron’s recently announced strategic supply partnership with General Motors, focused on securing long-term memory and storage availability for future vehicle platforms.
The company has also sealed a partnership with BMW Group in 2018 to test and develop automotive memory solutions for advanced infotainment and driver-assistance systems.
By expanding partnerships with leading automakers, Micron is reinforcing its position in the automotive semiconductor market as demand grows for intelligent, connected and increasingly software-driven vehicles.
