Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has released RCX-Studio 2020, a programming support software for its RCX3 Series controllers. With the new software, the company has extended the 3D simulator function, to single-axis and Cartesian robots. Conventionally, the 3D simulator function is dedicated only for SCARA robots.
Mainly, the 3D simulator function displays the robot and peripheral units in 3D to simulate the robot operation on a PC. The layout can be checked without any actual machines. Moreover, the teaching and debugging work can be performed. This function contributes to reducing the startup time of the robot system.
Specifically, the RCX-Studio 2020_V3.1.0 support software was released on the website on Nov. 1. Members can download the software after logging in to the site.
3D Simulator
With the 3D simulator, the layout can be verified beforehand without connecting robot. Robots and peripheral devices are displayed in 3D, and the robot operation is simulated on PC. Moreover, robot layout, teaching, and debugging can be performed. This way, physical interference between the robot and peripheral device can be checked before operation starts.
Program Template
Also, program creation time can be greatly shortened. The program template incorporates 10 types of applications. By following the steps to perform the operation, a program template is created automatically.
Custom Window Creation
An operation screen suitable for the customer’s equipment can be created. Moreover, graphical user interface for operators displayed on the panel computer can be created.
Other Existing Functions
The new RCX-Studio 2020 inherits all useful features from RCX-Studio Pro, like cycle time calculator, real time trace and data comparison. These feature support operations from startup to maintenance.
