RS Malaysia Opens New Industry 4.0-Ready Warehouse

RS Group plc, a global omni-channel provider of product and service solutions, has expanded its distribution center in Malaysia. Notably, the new warehouse covers 50,000 sq. ft area and will form part of its strategy to ensure future growth and expand services.

Located within Mapletree Logistics hub in Shah Alam, Klang Valley, the company’s new warehouse puts a premium on minimizing maintenance and equipment downtime. This is because the new location is only 22 kilometers away from Klang Sea Port and about 56 kilometers from KLIA International Airport. Thus, allowing for a quick order fulfillment time of only one to two days for local businesses.

Simplifies Transition to Industrial Revolution

In collaboration with Geodis MY, the warehouse features comprehensive wireless coverage and is Industry 4.0 ready. Moreover, it has plans to integrate radio frequency technology and other IoT devices soon. The facility also comes equipped with RS’s SAP and vendor-managed inventory systems. Hence, enabling efficient operations management, allowing for greater spend visibility and reductions in process costs. Geodis’ warehouse management system even complemented this further with efficient inventory storage and retrieval functions.
