Companies Showcase Japan-Made Mounters at FIEE in Brazil

FIEE 2023 (Feira Internacional da Eletricidade, Eletrônica, Energia, Automação e Conectividade), an electronics trade fair for a wide range of industries was held in July in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mounters and other surface mount technology (SMT) equipment are among the highlight exhibits.

In Brazil, the manufacturing industry comprising automotive and information and communication equipment manufacturers is on the growth track. This industry growth reflects the attendance at FIEE 2023, which was crowded with many visitors. The four-day event drew about 50,000 attendees.

Saki highlights its 3D-AOI systems in FIEE.

RX Brazil holds FIEE biennially in collaboration with Abinee – Associação Brasileira da Indústria Elétrica e Eletrônica, an electronics industry group. FIEE gathers manufacturers of mounters, factory automation (FA) equipment, industrial robots, generators, motors, and transformers. The last event was held in 2019 but was canceled in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  So, this year’s event was the first in four years.

About 500 local and global companies gathered at São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center to showcase their products and technologies. Among Japanese companies, FUJI Do Brasil Maquinas Industriais Ltda. and Panasonic Do Brasil Limitada highlighted their mounting equipment. Meanwhile, Saki Corporation exhibited automated optical inspection (AOI) and solder paste inspection (SPI) systems. Also, companies from the United States and countries in Europe, such as Germany, participated in the show.

Ongoing Industrial Development

Mainly, Brazil’s population reaches about 220 million people. Brazil represents developing and emerging countries called Global South along with India. In the coming years, Brazil is expected to undergo industrial development. In the country’s manufacturing industry, automotive, information and communications, textile, and chemical industries are on the growth track.

Specifically, the Brazilian government has embarked on nurturing the semiconductor industry. In the automotive sector, the development of low-carbon vehicles that use bioethanol has been progressing. Moreover, the automation of the manufacturing industry and the shift toward digital manufacturing have been advancing.

FIEE as Launching Pad for Saki’s 3D-AOI

At the show, Saki highlighted a leading-edge three-dimensional automated optical inspection (3D-AOI) system and latest software solution. Specifically, 3Di-LS3 equipped with an 8μm high-resolution camera system supports on-site upgrading.  It achieves high-performance quality inspection at an industry-leading cycle time. Also, it features Z-axis drive and optical option specifications with side cameras. Accordingly, 3Di-LS3 delivers both high resolution and height measurement expansion.

Meanwhile, 3Di-LS2 high-speed 3D-AOI with an 18μm resolution camera system meets market needs for improved productivity. QD Analyzer system software accumulates and analyzes operation status and inspection results of all machines on the production line. The software system contributes to improved product quality and productivity of smart factories through linkage with an inspection system. Saki demonstrated these leading-edge technologies and products at its booth.

Norihiro Koike, President and Representative Director of Saki said, “FIEE 2023 provided an opportunity to introduce our company’s 3D-AOI in Brazil for the first time.  More than expected visitors crowded our booth, and our company’s automated inspection solution, which achieves industry-leading cycle time, drew visitors’ attention.”  Koike noted favorable responses from visitors.

Panasonic Do Brasil highlighted a leading-edge smart factory mounting line, exhibiting Saki’s machine-to-machine (M2M) inspection solution.

FUJI Smart Factory

Meanwhile, FUJI Do Brasil showcased FUJI Smart Factory with the Nexim integrated production system at the core. Particularly, this system makes use of internet of things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies. FUJI Smart Factory centers around the SMT line.
