Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that the Company has installed a 2,200kW-capacity solar power generation system in Japan. Specifically, it installed the mega solar over the entire rooftop of the factory building at its Fukuroi South Factory. It is located in Fukuroi City in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture. The operation has commenced on Dec. 25, 2023.
A total of 4,650 panels of 475W solar panels (2,200kW) have been additionally installed. Solar panels have already been installed on the rooftops of the energy buildings at the Fukuroi South Factory in 2022; and the total power generation of 2,330kW will be the largest among the Yamaha Motor Group in Japan. The power generated will be used at the factory. Meanwhile, the surplus power will be transmitted to Yamaha’s other business sites from 2025 via the power transmission and distribution network of the Chubu Electric Power Grid Co., Inc. Additionally, the use of this surplus power adds to the CO₂ reduction effect while contributing to help in the prevention of global warming.
Yamaha Motor, in line with its Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050, is working toward being carbon neutral* throughout all of its supply chains. This includes the company’s business activities by 2050. Mainly, this construction of large-scale solar power generation is one of the Company’s efforts to achieve this target.
