Lelon Expands Thailand Manufacturing Base to Support EV, AI Growth

Lelon Electronics is strengthening its regional manufacturing network with a new Thailand facility as the Taiwanese capacitor maker targets rising demand from automotive electronics and artificial intelligence applications.

The company, Taiwan’s leading aluminum electrolytic capacitor manufacturer, is accelerating its transition from a component supplier to a comprehensive aluminum capacitor solutions provider. Automotive electronics and AI applications continue to serve as major growth drivers, prompting Lelon to expand its production footprint and enhance supply chain resilience.

Thailand Plant Moves Into Qualification Phase

Located in the Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate, Lelon’s new manufacturing facility has entered the customer qualification stage. The site is expected to begin volume production next year following certification.

The investment is designed to address a rapidly evolving global supply chain environment. By establishing production closer to customer manufacturing bases, Lelon aims to reduce operational risks, improve supply stability, and provide faster support to regional clients.

Initially, the facility will manufacture aluminum electrolytic capacitors, or E-Caps. The company also plans to gradually expand capacity and introduce Hybrid and Polymer capacitor production lines according to market demand.

EV Adoption Drives Capacitor Demand

The expansion comes as automotive electrification continues to gain momentum worldwide. Growing electric vehicle sales are increasing demand for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), electronic control units (ECUs), and onboard chargers (OBCs).

These applications require reliable capacitor technologies, creating sustained demand for automotive-grade aluminum capacitors. As a result, suppliers capable of supporting evolving vehicle electronics requirements are well positioned for growth.

Strategic Focus on Supply Chain Resilience

Lelon views the Thailand plant as a strategic investment rather than simply an additional manufacturing site. The project has been developed with particular consideration for energy, security, and geopolitical factors that increasingly influence global manufacturing decisions.

The facility’s location is expected to shorten transit times, improve supply efficiency, and enhance responsiveness to customer requirements across Southeast Asia.

Lelon already supplies numerous major Tier-1 automotive electronics manufacturers and has qualified with leading German automotive electronics suppliers. Those qualifications allow its products to be used in safety-critical automotive applications.

Looking ahead, the company plans to strengthen support for Japanese customers operating in Southeast Asia through localized services, flexible delivery schedules, and a broader range of aluminum capacitor solutions.
