Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Ltd. (JAE) completed the construction of a new building (B Building) at the 2nd Plant of JAE Yamagata, Ltd. at Shinjo-shi in Yamagata. Accordingly, this serves as the company’s production site for its connector business.
The company held a completion ceremony for the new building recently, more than a year after the start of the construction.
Based on the growth strategy outlined in the Medium-Term Management Plan for the JAE Group, the company aims to strengthen its global supply chain. Most importantly, it will continue to rebuild production systems to ensure growth in the business with connectors. Particularly, those for the automotive and industrial equipment and infrastructure markets.
JAE Yamagata aims to establish an “environmentally friendly plant” by moving forward with the introduction of energy-efficient equipment, and to contribute to the local community as a site for “monozukuri and hitozukuri (production and human resource development)” that provides a good working environment.
In view of expanding production of high current, high voltage connectors required for EVs, JAE has introduced and put into operation stamping and molding machines. Going forward, the company will accumulate technology through mass production, and will make JAE Yamagata a production base that will lead the Group in production technology for high current, high voltage connectors.
All electric power used in the entire JAE Yamagata (including the 1st Plant) will come from renewable energy sources. In addition, the company will realize an environmentally friendly plant by promoting energy-saving initiatives such as real-time visualization of electricity consumption per production line and automatic control of the number of compressors in operation.
As the main production site in the Connector Business, JAE Yamagata has accumulated manufacturing technologies for molding, connector assembly, etc. Currently, more than 300 certified technicians work at the company. Also, twelve employees have been certified as “Monozukuri Meister” (“Production Master”) under a scheme promoted by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare.
Furthermore, the company contributes to local development of human resources and community revitalization through classes at schools. In addition, they also conduct on-site training at small and medium-sized enterprises. With the completion of the new building, we will further promote the accumulation of manufacturing technologies and human resource development efforts.
To achieve medium-term growth, the JAE Group plans to make continuous investments on production facilities and infrastructure and enhance production capacity. Based on this plan, in the Connector Business, the company will enhance its production capacity, especially for the fast-growing EV and industrial equipment markets.
At the same time, JAE will continue to enhance the production capabilities at three of our domestic sites: the Akishima Plant, JAE Hirosaki, and JAE Yamagata, making them the core sites for the Group. In addition, amidst global concerns regarding risks to the supply chain, JAE will make the transition to dual-site (overseas and domestic) production by enhancing domestic production capacities. Furthermore, it will work to expand domestic production of automotive and industrial connectors, thus further strengthening the supply chain.
