SEMICON Taiwan 2021: Taiwan’s IC Event Tracks Prospects Beyond Pandemic

Highlighting the latest innovations in the electronics manufacturing and design supply chain, SEMICON Taiwan returns to live staging of the event from December 28 to 30. Originally scheduled in September, organizers decided to reschedule the annual event amid the surge of COVID-19 cases globally including Taiwan since May.

SEMICON Taiwan, which will take place at Hall 1 of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, will feature more than 550 exhibitors in over 2,000 booths with the theme Forward as One. SEMICON Taiwan is one of the few global trade events that will have physical exhibition amid the declining cases in Taiwan.

Occupies Core Position

Organizers confirmed the new schedule of SEMICON Taiwan 2021 after Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) relaxed restrictions. With the safety and well-being of all event participants a top priority, SEMI said it will meet the highest standards in implementing pandemic prevention measures during the exhibition.

“Taiwan is a semiconductor manufacturing powerhouse that produces some of the world’s most sophisticated chips and has led semiconductor equipment spending in seven of the past 10 years,” said Terry Tsao, Chief Marketing Officer at SEMI and President of SEMI Taiwan.

“With Taiwan’s central position in the semiconductor industry, SEMICON Taiwan 2021 offers visitors unmatched opportunities to connect with some of the industry’s top companies and uncover new business opportunities across leading-edge technologies. These include artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and machine learning that are transforming the microelectronics industry and giving rise to a growing universe of smart applications.”

Chip industry players, including leaders Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited (TSMC), Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE), Nanya Technology, among others, are to showcase cutting-edge advances and solutions in the industry. These include in the areas of heterogeneous integration, green manufacturing, smart and advanced manufacturing, advanced testing, strategic materials, and MEMS and sensors.

Virtual Forums Set Stage

The journey to SEMICON Taiwan 2021 began early September with five live online forums featuring expert insights into critical semiconductor industry areas. These include Power and Opto chips, Smart Manufacturing, Sustainable Manufacturing, Smart Medtech and Cybersecurity. Available on-demand through November, the online events offer insights into future semiconductor industry trends.

SEMICON Taiwan 2021 forums and speakers will discuss the latest developments in advanced manufacturing from scaling to heterogeneous integration, covering technology developments from front- to back-end semiconductor manufacturing and exploring innovations in compound semiconductors, smart manufacturing, and other smart verticals.

The 2020 edition of SEMICON Taiwan, the first year it held hybrid event with the onset of the pandemic, attracted 550 exhibitors occupying 2,000 booths with 52,901 registered visitors from both physical show and virtual platforms, covering 29 countries. SEMICON Taiwan 2020 focused on three themes, namely advanced manufacturing, smart manufacturing, and green manufacturing.
